Email Attachment Size Limits for Inbound and Outbound Messages
Objective
To inform users about the attachment size limits for inbound and outbound email messages in the system.
Introduction
Email systems often have limits on the size of attachments that can be sent or received. This article explains the size limits for both inbound and outbound emails when using DuoCircle services.
Size Limits
- Inbound Email Attachment Size Limit
The maximum attachment size for email messages coming into the system is 50MB. This limit applies to the total size of all attachments in a single email.
- Outbound Email Attachment Size Limit
For email messages sent using the Outbound SMTP service, the attachment size limit is also 50MB. This is the total size of all attachments in the outgoing message.
Can the Limit Be Adjusted?
No. The 50MB message size limit is enforced at the system level in our mail infrastructure and applies uniformly to all customers. It is not possible to increase or decrease this limit for individual accounts.
The 50MB limit was chosen to align with the published limits of major mailbox providers such as Google Workspace. If your organization routinely needs to send files larger than 50MB, we recommend using a file-sharing service (such as Google Drive, OneDrive, or Dropbox) and sending a link instead of attaching the file directly to the email.
Conclusion
Users should ensure that their email attachments do not exceed the 50MB limit for both inbound and outbound messages. This limit is system-wide and cannot be customized on a per-account basis.
